I think iTunes is a lot like the Space-Time Continuum: you play one track on shuffle, and it goes to the next song and then the next in some kind of order. Like the ability to go back in time, you can go back to a previous track but the playlist continues on the same order. However, let’s say you go back in time and change something, the future is different. Likewise, if you change the song in iTunes, well — you got yourself an entirely new playlist.
